The following list represents steps in the selection phase of the faculty search process. Click below for more information regarding each step.

Review and evaluate all applicants and provide disposition codes and reasons.

Identify interview (A) pool (Note: there is no limit to the number of applicants that can be identified for interview).

Submit request to interview to ODE for approval.

Begin interview process. Phone or Skype interviews are two possible options for identifying the top candidates to select for campus visits.

Communicate with applicants selected for campus visits and begin making travel and lodging arrangements.

Communicate with applicants not selected for a campus visit.

Host campus visits.

Complete final reference checks if applicable.

Search committee evaluates interviewed applicants.

If no candidate identified then can move Q’s to A’s or repost/readvertise (proceed to step #10)
Hiring Toolkit
Search committee recommends to the department head and/or dean the top candidate(s) for selection.
Hiring Toolkit
Dean and department head review final candidates and begin negotiating within terms of original agreement with the Provost’s Office. Multiple offers may be made until an offer is accepted as long as offers are made to candidates in the interview pool approved by ODE.

Prepare final post-interview dispositions and submit hire request to ODE.
