American Sign Language Studies Program, Storrs Campus

Our continually expanding ASL Studies program offers six levels of ASL courses including several courses related to Deaf studies, linguistics, and interpreting. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The American Sign Language Studies Program at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, has two adjunct openings for fall 2024:

ASLN 1101 Elementary American Sign Language I (first level of ASL)
Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00-6:40

ASLN 1101 Elementary American Sign Language I (first level of ASL)
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:40

ASLN 1101 Elementary American Sign Language I (first level of ASL)
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-8:40

All three courses are available in person. The first day is August 27th, 2024. The last day of classes is December 3rd with final exams the following week (TBD).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least two semesters of experience teaching ASL or Deaf related courses at the college level. Native or near-native fluency in ASL, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and student body.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A master's degree with six semesters experience teaching ASL courses at the college level including the use of technology for instructional and educational purposes. ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) 4 or higher. ASLTA (American Sign Language Teacher Association) Teacher Certification.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a temporary position for one semester, with the possibility of extension depending on program needs and available funding. $1,973 per credit, $7,892 per course (ASLN 1101 is a 4-credit course). Adjuncts are permitted to teach up to two courses per semester, $15,784 for both courses.

The American Sign Language Studies Program at the University of Connecticut Storrs, has two adjunct openings for Fall 2023:

Adjunct Faculty
Molecular and Cell Biology

The University of Connecticut, Waterbury Campus seeks academically and professionally qualified instructors to serve as adjunct faculty in the department of Molecular and Cell Biology in a variety of undergraduate courses and labs. Courses are taught at the Waterbury campus. Adjunct faculty typically teach one to two courses, per semester and are paid by the course. We are looking for qualified, experienced instructors for one or more of the following courses, though there may be opportunities for other courses not listed here as well:

  • Biochemistry (2000)
  • Fundamentals of Microbiology (2610)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in related field with some teaching experience including lecture and laboratory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years teaching experience at the college level.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

Positions will be filled on an as needed basis. Start dates will vary by course and semester. Qualified applicants will be contacted by the campus for an interview when an opening is anticipated.
