Work/Life Month & Expo

UConn is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals across the state and beyond, recognizing that our workforce plays a vital role in fulfilling this mission. Each October, we celebrate Work Life Month in honor of National Work and Family Month, reaffirming our dedication to a modern, holistic approach to well-being that reflects today’s workplace realities.

This year’s focus highlights wellness trends shaping 2026, emphasizing mental and emotional resilience, community connection, and accessible resources that help employees thrive. Guided by the seven dimensions of the wellness wheel, mental and emotional, environmental, physical, inclusive and belonging, financial, family and community, and personal development, we recognize that balance across all areas of life supports healthier individuals, stronger teams, and a more connected community.

The Work Life Expo brings together university and community partners who offer programs, services, and tools that support employees and their families. The Expo provides opportunities to learn, engage, and build connections across every dimension of wellness, from health care and financial support to community engagement, personal development, and inclusive workplace practices.

Together, we reinforce that well-being is more than a goal. It is a shared culture built through collaboration, connection, and practical support that helps people flourish personally and professionally.

Session 2: Wednesday, October 14, 2026
Time: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Participants attend two in-person, four‑hour sessions (8 hours total), and the sessions include guided exercises, small‑group conversations, personal reflection, and practical tools for thinking about purpose across a career. The workshops are ideal for professionals who are ready to think more intentionally about what they want from the next stage of their career. Balance is a Verb

Time: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

In honor of Work/Life Month, the Department of Human Resources is partnering with Transformative Leadership Strategies (TLS) to offer employees a complimentary webinar for professional and personal development.

The experience of ‘balance’ in life can feel very elusive.  We often believe that it is a state to achieve versus the practice of choosing where and how we place our attention and energy.  In this session, participants will explore the role that mindset, boundaries, guilt, and self-compassion play in creating an experience of balance in life.
