UConn proudly upholds its mission to promote the health and well-being of all citizens across Connecticut and beyond—and our workforce is the driving force behind that vision. Each October, we celebrate Work/Life Month, reaffirming our commitment to helping employees create harmony between their professional and personal lives.
This year’s focus reflects the holistic approach embraced by today’s wellness trends, guided by the seven dimensions of the wellness wheel: mental & emotional, environmental, physical, inclusive & belonging, financial, family & community, and personal development. We recognize that nurturing all aspects of well-being fosters not just healthier individuals, but stronger teams and communities.
At the centerpiece of Work/Life Month, the Work-Life Expo gathers an array of UConn and community partners who provide resources, benefits, and services designed to support every dimension of wellness. This event empowers employees with information and connections that can enhance their everyday lives—from health care and financial support to community engagement and personal development opportunities.
Together, we celebrate the idea that well-being isn't just a goal, it’s a culture we build together, one connection at a time.

Thinking Beyond UConn is a great fit for anyone who’s spent years building their career and is now ready to take a step back, reflect, and plan for what’s ahead.
As careers evolve, so do the questions we ask about meaning, impact, and what comes next. Thinking Beyond UConn is a reflective, in-person workshop series for faculty and staff ready to explore future possibilities—both within and beyond the university. Through two four-hour sessions (8 hours total) of guided personal reflective writing, and small group discussion, participants will uncover what matters most and design three purpose-driven paths forward.
HR typically sponsors several Career Purpose Workshops throughout the year that are open to employees, and units may contact HR or the Life Purpose Lab for details about private workshops. While some sessions are fully subsidized by HR or a sponsoring unit, non-subsidized sessions cost $52 per person (cost covers materials).
