Standard Posting Process - HR Advertising
HR Advertising will continue their standard review and approval process related to ad copies in PageUp. Upon HR-Advertising’s approval and the posting going live on HR’s website, the hiring department can proceed with requesting additional paid advertising. HR’s standard posting destinations that do not require additional paid advertising requests are listed below.
Regular Payroll: HR Website, Inside Higher Education, Diverse, CTHires, and HERC
Special Payroll: HR Website
Any additional posting destinations need to be requested via the Paid Advertising process.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is HR-Advertising’s role in the approval process?
HR-Advertising will continue to review, finalize, and approve the ad copy. Upon HR-Advertising’s approval of the ad copy and change in status to ‘Sourcing’, the job will be submitted for posting to the HR Jobs website and all other standard posting destinations. Please note that the data transfer taking place from HR approval to posting can take up to 30 minutes.
What is the expected timeline when requesting paid advertising?
To receive a quote on requested paid advertising, a live link to the application is required. Once the position has been approved by HR-Advertising and is live on the website, the department can proceed with submitting their request for a quote on paid advertising.
How long will my job posting be posted?
For automatic posting destinations, it is at the discretion of the hiring department. Common examples include 14 days, 30 days, and open until filled.
For Paid Advertising, sources typically post for 30- or 60-day blocks. Confirm your options with Graystone when the quote is requested for review.
How do I extend my posting?
Please email Advertising@uconn.edu and include the revised deadline. Be sure to request this prior to the posting expiration date to ensure continuity.
Can I re-post a position after the deadline has passed?
Yes. If you would like to do this, please email Advertising@uconn.edu for assistance.
I don’t see my position posted on the UConn Jobs or UConn Faculty Positions site.
Please email Advertising@uconn.edu for assistance.
Who do I contact to make changes to my advertisement?
Please email Advertising@uconn.edu for assistance.
Does HR offer any free sites to post my job?
Currently, HR posts to HR Website, Inside Higher Education, Diverse, and CT Hires free of charge to hiring departments. Other cost-effective recruitment efforts may include networking, listservs, conferences, and contact with professional associations.
Is our department required to make specific recruitment efforts?
Recruiting efforts can take many forms, including networking, job postings on listservs, recruitment efforts made at conferences, and contact with professional associations. Proactive networking among professional contacts and associations is a valuable component of a recruitment strategy. The search committee should document all networking efforts made to reach potential applicants. A resource guide for academic positions is available. Additional recruitment resources are available in the search committee toolkit. Advertising can be utilized if a search committee feels it would be beneficial but is not necessary to satisfy the recruitment requirement. A good faith effort in recruiting can be satisfied through networking, listservs, conferences, and contact with professional associations.
How is paid advertising billed to my department?
Graystone will send an invoice to your department directly for review and payment.
