Mental Health Month

Where to Start

May is Mental Health Month, dedicated to prioritizing our well-being and promoting open conversations about mental health. At the University of Connecticut, we recognize the importance of mental health and its impact on our personal and professional lives.

This year’s theme for Mental Health Month is “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World.” In a world that is constantly evolving, it can be overwhelming to navigate the various challenges and changes happening around us. The pressures of work, relationships, and societal factors, like politics, climate change, and the economy, can significantly impact our mental well-being, sometimes even more than we realize.

While society is getting more comfortable discussing mental health, it can still be hard to know “Where to Start” when these pressures are impacting your daily life — what do you do when you think you might be experiencing signs and symptoms of a mental health condition? Please take time to utilize the tools, resources, and programming provided to find ways to adapt your surroundings to improve overall health and well-being, as well as ways to cope when change seems out of reach.

This May:

  • LEARN how modern life affects mental health and how to navigate our changing world.
  • ACT by building your coping toolbox so you can manage stress, difficult emotions, and challenging situations.
  • ADVOCATE to improve mental health for yourself, your friends and family, and your community.
